5-Sea to Sea (Blackberry fields forever)

Week 5
Days 29 to 35 of a 100 day
mega road trip across Canada
(This week we dip into Washington to visit the Hansen family)

Day 29 ~ Aug 25th
A quiet Sabbath.
No hiking, no camping, no jamming, no distance driving.

A quiet day with the Hansen's.

In the morning:
Just a short drive to church.
(Britni's group of YW sang the welcome
song to Carolyn...a nice touch.)

In the afternoon:
A stroll around the block.

In the evening:
A school daze fashion show.

Some homemade fudge in ziplock bags.
(Tes holds Brian's racing prize.  His car...well,
let's just say that it finished!  Woo-hoo!)

Dalia with her new hat and backyard
grown Volcano Dahlia.  Stunning!

Sleep well!

Day 30 ~ Aug 26th
iPhone 5 replaced
Story time.

School shopping.  (Classes begin Sept. 4th here.)

I got my phone replaced TODAY due to liquid damage.
It was the dreaded Oregon Mist.  Not a rain, not even
a drizzle, but this mist killed my 10 week old iPhone 5.

I was able to recover these final 2 photos from August 15th.
Admit it Shalaun. You loved driving the boat!
Emy & Audrey were excited to pull crabs out
of the net & toss the small wins back. They
encouraged the pot pullers to "pull like the wind!"

Tons of fun!  xoxo

Day 31 ~ Aug 27th
A quiet day.
Hangin' with the G'kids…

I learned the bazooka bubble gum song.
The kids met & entertained Mr. Giggles.
Britni made scrumptious banana bread.

Happy landings and sweet dreams!

Zzzzzzzz

P.S. Happy Birthday to 20 year old Darren!!!

Day 32 ~ Aug 28th
Simply berries

While Lane worked to bottle blackberry pie
filling Carolyn played with G'kids.

What could be better?!

Day 33 ~ Aug 29th
Yawn.
Some days are just more or less exciting than others...
We love this boy!
and spending time in the great northwest. xoxo

Day 34 ~ Aug 30th
Dig this.
Digging in the dirt with Rock.

Digging in the sand at sunset.

Digging life as a retired couple.

xoxo

Day 35 ~ Aug 31st
Saturday...
is a special day.
We play in the mud -

And we work on our Caddy-

We repack our car -

We share stories with Mr. Giggles -

It's the day we get ready for Sunday!

Good night sleep tight.
Don't let the bedbugs bite.
If they do, hit them with a shoe.

xoxo

Next week: The Canadian Rockies

4-Sea to Sea (BRITISH COLUMBIA)

Week 4
Days 22 to 28 of a 100 day
mega road trip across Canada

Day 22 ~ Aug 18th
*C*A*N*A*D*A*
We left the Olympic Rainforest today...

and are onboard a ferry to Victoria BC.

Phone, email and texting will resume on the 22nd
when we cross back into the grand US of A.

Should Lane lose the beard? (He's thinking of losing it in Canada.)

We love you!  xoxo

Happy 9th Anniversary to Meredith and Tyson August 20th

Day 23 ~ Aug 19th
Victoria BC
Drive by photo.

Fort Victoria - city camping.
Close quarters.

A castle becomes a college campus.

Prickly 'pine?' tree...

Butchart Garden freesia
Bloom where you are planted!  xoxo

Day 24 ~ Aug 20th
Beachtime
Today's tent site was MUCH larger.

 Sheer delight!
(Tom and Shalaun are flying a kite behind Emy.)

 A boy and his granddad.

Canada can grow big trees too!

We sure enjoy camping with Tom and Shalaun.  xoxo

Day 25 ~ Aug 21st
Vancouver Island to Vancouver City
Every day should begin with a pony ride,
milking a goat and gathering eggs.

A sterling day to catch a ferry from
Vancouver Island to Vancouver City.

"It is not for its beauty that the forest makes
a claim on men's hearts, as for that subtle
something, that quality of air, that emanation
from old trees, that so wonderfully changes
and renews a weary spirit."
-Robert Louis Stevenson

Capilano Suspension Bridge (450 feet long, 230 feet high).

Western Canada is a gorgeous place
but we must leave her tomorrow.  xoxo

Day 26 ~ Aug 22nd
Border crossing
The camera loves these kids!

It was an easy walk to Shannon Falls.

Today we packed up and said goodbye to Canada.

We are "home"!!!
We can text, phone and email again...sorry  ;o}

Pizza with the Hansens!
Topped off with blackberry birthday cobbler,
complete with residue from 55 melting
candles (photo on Britni's camera).

Roses from Tesila Rose,
who remembered my favorite color.

Today we hugged #65, the last
of our immediate family...Brian.

We count our blessings everyday!

Day 27 ~ Aug 23rd
Blackberry heaven!
Blackberry d-day!

The attack begins…Tom wields a machete
to facilitate access to the bushes.

Tom and Shalaun depart for Utah.  Emy and
Audrey will start school next Monday!

Free blackberries yield 48 jars of jam.

Out for a walk.

Brian has gone a racing.

Stay sweet as jam!  xoxo

(We miss you Tom, Shalaun, Emy, Audrey and Slater.
You are great travelers and campers!!!  Drive home safe.)

Day 28 ~ Aug 24th
Race Day
The Chump circuit held a 2-day race in Washington.
45 teams started the 18 hour race.  We'll know the
results tomorrow.  (Because of their first place
finish in April they are penalized 6 laps each
day of this race. Go figure!)
The lap layout…

Cars must be valued under $500…

Steer clear of danger and don't run out of fuel.
Love, Momma & Dad
