United Nations

(This entry is a transfer from our former web.mac page)

Norm and Luana Shumway, UN representatives for the Church,
continue to impress and amaze. And Ahmad, our director,
is ever the diplomat’s diplomat.
We delight in shadowing them to the UN on occasion."Can I get one of these to help
me understand my companion?"

10th anniversary of Peace and National Accord.

(Today we joined the Shumways, Ahmad and a few
Ambassadors for a family picnic in Connecticut. No photos.)
We enjoy building friendships for the Church. Lane is
especially good at it. People the world over are laughing
at his impressions and jokes. Is this really happening?

Brooklyn Bridge

If you get the chance to come visit New York we recommend walking the Brooklyn Bridge. We’ve done it several times. Midday in the heat of summer...twilight on a cool Autumn evening...each memory distinct and clearly defined. Your motivation...legendary Grimaldi’s Pizzeria awaits you under the Bridge in Brooklyn.

Seating is so tight we made friends with our table mates...
A very cute young married couple, Taiwan and Sharese.

Last month we began inspecting apartments of the young missionaries. What a delight to start the day checking for “space invaders” & encouraging these incredible young people.

The call came just before church meetings one Sunday in June. Dillon had stayed as long as he possibly could. Now he’s running around in heaven eating ice cream!

Have you heard of this popular TV program? We have yet to watch it but we live it everyday. This month we focus on scenes from the office and featured guest stars. Our focus is to increase positive awareness and understanding of the Church.

Building Blocks

Wow! This is a crazy fun city to stroll through. Residents spill out of apartments, tourists tumble onto the streets, taxis horn in on every corner, and vendors tempt commuters to slow down. It is marvelous to observe and all too easy to fit in. We absolutely love being in Manhattan. As missionaries we are simple servants mindful of Gods love for His children everywhere.

We rejoice and give thanks to God for his tender mercies on us and on all of our family and friends.

Happy birthday to Lane and his visiting sister who shares the same date!
We love you Mary Lou, Ken, Lorie Ann, and Anthony (future missionary to Japan).

A Day in the Life...

Winter really set in and we set out to enjoy it. Mostly due to a small pipe explosion in our kitchen. During the 2 weeks of repairs we ventured out and discovered the wonderful variety of nearby restaurants - those of you who have been here would agree. Most days we don’t carry a camera (so as to not be mistaken for tourists) but we get one rest day, along with Sunday. We were lucky and got tickets to see “Wicked” - front row, center, cheap!

Also, Carolyn’s brother Clayton visited with his wife, Michelle. We had a wonderful time.
The 3 major concert halls of Lincoln Center with a tiny statue of the angel Moroni highlighted on the bottom edge.
