Hello best buddies of belovedness,

1) We prepared an authentic Middle Eastern/American dinner complete with plastic wrapped table, tissues for napkins and camel kebabs (spiked with beef).
2) My sister Charla hosted her annual Big Birthday Bash for our incredible Mother.
3)  She does this in the form of a tea party. All of my sisters were in attendance this year - Cathleen, Charla, Cecile & moi
4) A lunch date with our favorite Sam
5) A planetarium visit
6) Nobody we knew died this week…but I love this send off of handprints on the casket
7) Stephen graduated surrounded by his family (we missed Steph & kids, Joe & Gabby though)
8) Somebody we love dearly received some glam from an admirer 😉
9) Saw Top Gun Maverick - highly recommend it, on the big screen, with family!!!
10)  Memorial Day picnics were indoor occasions this year.  Still yummy…but out of the cool air and wind.

How was your week?

Matthew 5:44-45

“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he make the his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and senders rain on the just and on the unjust.”

”When someone has hurt us or those we care about, that pain can almost be overwhelming.  It can feel as if the pain or the injustice is the most important thing in the world and that we have no choice but to seek vengeance.  But Christ, the Prince of Peace, teaches us a better way.  It can be very difficult to forgive someone the harm they’ve done us, but when we do, we open ourselves up to a better future.  No longer does someone else’s wrongdoing control our course.  When we forgive others, it frees us to choose how we will live our own lives.  Forgiveness means that problems of the past no longer dictate our destinies, and we can focus on the future with God’s love in our hearts.”

- Elder David E Sorensen

I asked, “Was your grandmother Marjorie Pay Hinckley?”
“Yep”.
“Then your grandfather was…?”
“Yep.”
“Thank you for sharing your grandparents with the world. BTW, I took my daughter to your grandmother’s funeral.”
Dr Hinckley, “Thank you. We shared a story of her goal to read 4 chapters in the scriptures every day? After 4 days she remarked that she was only 3 days behind 😂. She concluded, better to have tried and failed than to have never tried at all.”

Keep trying y’all.

May 1, 2022

Last week was a week for transitioning.  We concluded our visit with the Robison family in Cincinnati, drove two 12-hour days to return to Daybreak, prepared decor and florals for a wedding…and not just any wedding, it was Greg’s marriage to Jennifer!  Every Utah family was represented and one Oregon household.  Saturday, April 30th, 2022 at Memorial House up Memory Grove.

I wasn’t a designated photographer and missed getting some photos we’d all like to see.  But here are a few to give you a flavor of the magical day:

1)  We gifted Greg & Jennifer their wedding flowers…
2)  over 200 roses were used.
3)  I created my first wedding arch…
4)  which consisted of silks from Dollar Tree.
5)  RayDean lent a hand and put together the aisle decor.
6) X made the cake and added the flowers with Carlie’s help.
7) The ceremony was officiated over by Jerel Bullock.
8)  Greg & Jennifer’s vows were unique and emotional —
9)  they included combining vials of sand (memories) from their 7 shared children.
10)  A highlight was a song Jennifer wrote and performed for Greg on the guitar.

The food was beautiful and delicious. The atmosphere was festive and celebratory.  All were thrilled to share in the happiness of this well-deserving couple.

Coming soon:

May 2nd ~ Benjamin James Hill, now a 4 year old wonder!
May 4th ~ “May the Fourth” be with all of us.  (That doesn’t even make sense.)
May 5th ~ Lane has minor surgery to fix his face (removal of a cancerous nodule).
May 7th ~ Isaac will be double digits…hurray!
May 7th ~ Joe & Gabriela get hitched.  Congrats!
May 8th ~ Momma’s Day!  Be good to all the Mother’s in our lives.

7) I used the weather as an excuse to hybernate a little longer —

April 3, 2022

Good news everyone!  This weekend we explored the early pioneer settlement of Spring City; built in 1852, burned, rebuilt, abandoned, resettled, prospered until 1890, and stagnant for the next 130 years. But the locals love it small and uninterrupted. It is on the National Register of Historic Places.  A gem and worth a looksie 👀!

1) Stephanie had a brilliant idea…
2) for Carrie to invite us to join them
3) for conference weekend
4) at a ‘Pulsipher’ family homestead
(built 4 yrs ago to look old).
5) So she did!
6) There were 13 of us.
7) Food was plentiful.
8) Games & puzzles were in abundance.
9) Bracelets formed for Ukrainian refugees and friends.
10) Conference messages carried peace and strengthened faith in Christ.  (The 2 hour break between sessions is the fastest 2 hours of the year!!!)

Outstanding memories remain.  Besides, it’s Spring people.  Get out and enjoy life!  How was your weekend?!

Important calendar items:
April 3rd ~ Kaelyn hits double digits TODAY!
April 7th ~ Jami & Chris have been married 8 years❤️

We love you forever!

Oh man, Oman!

It’s been an exhilarating week. Still in the Middle East. Finished a 7-day road trip through Oman.  We…

1)  camped in the Empty Quarter (largest sand sea on the planet).
2)  swam in the gulf of Oman
3)  watched the sun set over the dunes
4)  counted camels
5)  caught Bream and Trigger fish with NoBoundaries off Shuwaymiyah
6)  drove 1400 miles round trip - Muscat to Salalah
7)  strolled thru a grove of Frankincense Trees - Wadi Dawkah
8)  gazed upon the Grand Canyon of Oman - Jebel Shams
9)  visited the sultan’s palace grounds
10) took Covid test #6 since January so we can fly to Qatar on Tuesday

Oman is certainly a country we would invite you to visit.  People always want to know where we are from.  They are friendly, beautiful, curious, helpful and welcoming of foreigners.  They are proud Omani’s and want to show off their country; its resources, its beauty, its cuisine, its history.  Come if you can.  Or let us be your eyes and ears.
We feel we may have walked the land where Lehi and Sariah journeyed too with their family.  Through wadi’s and mountain valleys in southern Oman, to the seacoast.  What an amazing sight.  We know like Nephi that if we love God and keep his commandments he will nourish and strengthen us and provide a path that we can accomplish that which is best for us and our families.  Keep doing your best to work hard and look after your loved ones.  We cherish each of you.

This week:
6th   Emeline can officially ‘drive’ her family…crazy at age 16
7th   Carrie & Lincoln have been wife & husband for 21 years!!!
8th   We catch an early flight from Oman to Qatar
10th  Robert celebrates his 27th year!
10th  We fly to Cairo for an organized tour of Egypt
11th  Sabrina gets birthday cake and ice cream while turning 6
12th  Lane is the most handsome 74 year old husband I have ever had!

Take note that we’ll be in the SLC area approx March 29th thru mid to late June (with a week in Cincinnati in April).  Please plan some time when you can redeem a Christmas coupon or two.

Lane will toss out his Omani sim card Tuesday so you can once again reach him by text.

We love you forever,
Scatter smiles & sunshine  Ü
