APRIL 2015

Okay. Now what?

...the wedding has come and gone.
(It's amazing to me how that always seems to happen.)

Here's what came next.

A blast from the past ~ Lunch with fabulous Orlando friends

A pavilion party for Kaelyn's 2nd birthday

Assisting this awesome g'son with his campaign

NY Public Affairs Reunion
Larsens, Clowards, Mr C, Stones, and least of all, us
(dinner out, dessert in, hosted by the Stones, Jayne snaps this pic)

A night at the museum with Sam's fam.  Topped off with shakes at Hires.

3 year old Alta likes her medical kit.

We hop a flight (or 3) to accept X & KC's invitation to cruise with them.

Spring Break, Easter Weekend & Standby travel:
Following Steph's advice we leave Tuesday to be assured our arrival in time for a cruise departing from Cape Canaveral on Saturday.  Here's the short version.
First flight Red-eye SLC to JFK
Taxi to Newark ($80)
Second flight Newark to Boston
Taxi to hotel ($50)
Hotel stay ($75)
Taxi back to airport ($50)
Third flight Boston to Tampa
Rent a car ($120)
Drive to Tampa to Orlando
Meet up with X & KC in Orlando

It took us 48 hours, $375 + meals BUT the flights were FREE!

Thursday evening we enjoyed Hollywood Studios Disneyworld.  Friday after a Waffle House breakfast we drove back to Tampa for a day in Busche Gardens.

Our first Carnival Cruise - "The Sunshine" departs Saturday afternoon.

 Celebrity of the cruise

First stop - Grand Turk
(This is X really excited to have a hedgehog)
We snorkeled and went 4-wheeling.

                                                                Then St Thomas
(Today Lane was feeling less than perky so we took a tram for the view, a bird show and lunch.  KC & X took a scuba lesson.)

Next: The British Virgin Islands
(Geo-cashing and a day at the beach)

                                                             Lastly, St Maartens
All the fun was to be found at this abusive airport beach.
(In between planes I crocheted for Sophie)

Back on board for our farewell meal...
(Seriously X?!  Haha, you make me laugh)

Our return flights were nearly as eventful as our arriving flights.
Orlando to JFK
We felt so fortunate to be awarded the last 2 solo seats.
Carolyn was harassed by her seat mate. I slipped a note to Lane who then exchanged seats.   NYC police boarded the plane and approached me for my statement.  Once off the plane the accuser and accusee remained at the gate until the FBI could concur (we had been in international airspace.)  A report was filed.  We received apologizes from a JET airline representative and confirmed seats on the next flight.
JFK to SLC
Again, courtesy of Stephanie's employment with JET airline,
these flights were FREE!!!

Back on dry land, Brennan and I get a little wet to quench our thirst.

And to finish off the month we make a visit to the
temple in South Jordan.  Gorgeous gardens!

MARCH 2014 - part 2

ON THE ROAD AGAIN

In anticipation of baby Violet's birth we drove to Lake Stevens, Washington.

Perfecto!
...arriving just in time for St Patrick's Day dinner.

Tesila serves up 'ants on a log'.

Carolyn walks the girls to school

...and joins Tesila on a field trip.

Britni is ready to pop!
Tesila is beaming to have her mom on the field trip.

Rock displays the flower afghan crocheted for Violet.

The girls help prepare a vegetable salad, inspired by Callie.

Lane plays the 'baby-waiting game' in Oregon with Cameron.

Dalia plays a mermaid and the fairy Silvermist
in the school production of Peter Pan.

My talented granddaughter!

My choice of sleeping spaces

Now that Britni has attended to Tesila's field trip and Dalia's debut as Silvermist,
she takes advantage of the next opportunity to be induced (4 days overdue).
This, so that she can recover sufficiently prior to Jami's wedding, in two weeks.

The kids and I stay busy at home while we wait for the big announcement.

Tesila teaching school.

Violet appears March 24th, 2014
1:38 p.m.  7 lbs. 10 oz.  19.5 inches

With Jami's wedding just days away,
we invite Dalia and Tesila to ride back to SLC with us,
to be joined by the remaining Hansen's in a few days.

We stop for lunch with Lane's sister Reta Allen, McCall Idaho.
Their basement is a wall to wall train buffs dream.

Back home we enjoy Qwirkle, pie and G'kids!

Our family photographer, Erin, snatches a few bridal (& groomal) shots.

APRIL is sure to be a memorable month.
