ENGLAND and SPAIN

ENGLAND and SPAIN
June 3-10, 2011

This week Jerry and Erin joined us.
We split the time, 3 days in England and 5 days in Spain.

Riding the London Eye

The London Eye carries 32 "cars" holding 25 persons each.

That's 800 people, people!  The 1/2 hour ride revolves once.

Carolyn is fascinated with the story behind 2 ancient Egyptian obelisks.  One stands in Central Park.  She discovered the second one on the bank of the Thames River in London. (pictured far right near the trees)

Cleopatra's Needle #2

Big Lane with Big Ben

Outstanding architecture of Valencia, Spain.

Erin snapped this amazing view of Palau Nacional,
built for the 1929 World's Fair.  It is situated on Montjuic
hill and was rehabilitated for the 1992 Summer Olympics.

Sidewalk cafe in Valencia, Spain.  Lane requested a love song.
This Spaniard sang the romantic Johnny Cash ballad
"Folsom Prison Blues".  LOL funnieee

The rains danced around us but stayed out of our way.  It was a beautiful trip.

Highlights:

Having Jerry and Erin along to act as our personal interpreters.
Making our flights.
Lane driving the left lane in England.
Jerry driving the left lane in England!
Erin sharing her photographic prowess...
Jerry navigating the streets of wild Spain.
Having a GPS.

One and only low point:
no bull...fight, that is.

Jerry and Erin fly home on the 11th.  We follow in 10 days.  We'll be imposing on Carolyn's parents for lodging until we enter the MTC in mid-July.  And looking to mooch a few meals here and there.  ;-}

Love you all,
