                                (skipped)

WEEK 3 - December 15th,  2019
Only 10 days until CHRISTmas. Are all you little elves and angels busy preparing?

1)  Two weeks ago we were visiting the Hansen’s. It was so nice to be there during their shepherd’s dinner.  On our road trip to Boise we spent short but precious time with Aunt Reta (Lane’s sister) in McCall, Idaho.

2). After leaving Lane at the Boise airport I drove on to DayBreak. It felt soooo good to have a stationary home to return too.  I visited my mom & David, the Gerbers, Roy, worked in g’mas workshop and prepared for a cruise.

3)  Lane joined Cameron in California for the Ute vs Duck football game. Their dream of kickin’ some duck bootie became a nightmare. Even the duck fans surrounding their seats began to console them.

4)  Lane flew on to the Florida coast to meet fellow cruisers the Bullocks, Linc, Carrie and me.  It was a week of relaxation in the Caribbean.

5)  We will arrive ‘HOME’ tonight.

6)  REJOICE!  Jesus’ Christmas gift to every human being is immortality and the potential for eternal happiness - all pain, sorrows, disappointment forgot.  Peace, joy and love fill their place. I am smiling!

I’m writing this in the JetBlue lounge at Ft Lauderdale airport.  Without my computer files I’m just gonna guess at important calendar dates.  Forgive me please if I miss something.

Dec 8th    Roy’s birthday!
Dec 10th  Stephen can legally drive-whoa!
Dec 13th  Tom & Shalaun’s anniversary

WEEK 4 - December 23rd,  2019
Fabulous Festive Family!!!

What a remarkable week. We love being home and having you come visit.

1) Shepherd’s Dinner #2 (the first was at the Hansen’s home). The Bullocks, Bells, & Greg (w/ date)!
There was great food, scripture reading, Claire is credited with being a beautiful baby Jesus, nativity video watching, stirring guitar/violin duet by Greg and Jennifer, a few costumes (hee-haw), yaks and other wild creatures, and GOOD FOLKS to share it with.

2) We were invited to Paden’s family party. Callie makes a fantastic cake...two in fact ;o}
Rayson added excitement to every gift as Paden learned to open each one. This car track took center stage.
Cute, giggly sisters rounded out the fun evening. And Daisy was content just to be held. Thanks Gerber’s!

3) Our appliances got ‘wrapped’ by 3 experts! Our nephew Kendric came Saturday and brought 2 of his best subs.
A roll of car wrap, a heat gun, some precision cutting and voila!!! We love them...and the great job they did. Do you like?

4) Shepherd’s dinner #3 - The Scotts and the Lincoln Howell family.
Simple foods, first try at serving Mac-n-Cheese balls, Lane makes a S’more trifle…tastes as good as it looks.
A few games and gift opening. A very lovely evening. Lincoln and Lane tied for best headgear.

5) To finish this check-in I wanted to thank the Bullocks for loaning us their spare tree. It really fills the room with the feeling of Christmas.
The scripture is like a new read to me from this weeks SS reading. Christ’s example is mind-blowing. How often I get miffed and cannot hide it. Such great peace I feel from knowing that God is just, merciful and fair when judging our actions and intentions. I know His love for us is perfect.
Merry CHRISTmas every ONE!

Coming soon:
December 25th - remember Jesus today and always
December 28th - remember Lincoln on his birthday
December 31st - A celebration on the eve of 2020, our house. Watch for info.

We truly do love you forever!

WEEK 5 - December 30th,  2019
Howdy,

Just a few collages to keep you updated.

1)  Shepherd’s dinner with the Hills and Tom’s family.  Jon was missed (sick).  Emy, Audrey and Shalaun performed like professionals.
But the highlight for me was watching Darren transform into a character from MIB.  A real crackup!

2)  Final small group dinner was hosted by the Kelley’s.  Sam’s family joined in.  Alta and Tagg played the piano, then we all played CHRISTmas songs on the chimes.  Such fun!
CHRISTmas happened.  Can you tell my photos have improved?  (Lane gave me an iPhone 11.  I gave him socks.)
We got visited by Bullocks and Bells.  That there beautiful baby is Claire Elizabeth.

3)  Here’s a sweet depiction of the most perfect babe ever born.  EVER.

4)  Lincoln turned 411 (or 42).  When Carrie gifted him a trombone I think he teared up.  He’s still got what it takes. We were invited to his birthday dinner.  It was DEE. LISH. US.  Steph makes a stupendous Boston Creme Pie!

Which picture doesn’t belong?…it’s my new work bench area in the basement, made out of dumpster scraps, leftover sheetrock and a counter top from Linc.

5)  Sunday night the Gerber’s dropped by for a tapioca/ice cream night.  The Gerber’s are here!  The Gerber’s are here!  Callie thinks I’m aged.  I now know I’ll be in good hands if I ever am truly old and fragile.

Tonight we hade a "cookies and cocoa" night with our nearby neighbors.  They stayed for 2 hours.  We all feel blessed to be in good health, in beautiful homes, and making great friends.  Truly blessed and loved.

Coming soon:
Dec 31st - New Year's Eve party at Lincoln & Carrie’s, starts at 5:00 p.m.
January 1st - 2020!!!
January 2nd - Michael turns 28
January 5th - Sadie Jane will be a Sunbeam for Jesus!!!!

NOVEMBER 2019

Week 1 - November 3rd,  2019
Good evening beloved family.  What did you do with your extra hour?  I crocheted.

1) This week began with a cream puff “cake” for Josh’s 17th birthday.  He is passionate about mountain biking...cream puffs…not so much.
Sam and his wonderful family joined us for dinner and games.  Come back anytime!

2)  We happily accepted an invitation to a delightful halloween parade featuring our favorite witch, pirate and zombie.
Crazed Batman was a bonus!

3)  Bullocks welcomed us for soup in bread bowls, caramel apples, donuts, and Bullock Brew.  Kim, Anissa and Greg joined in.  (Carlie gets points for carving each individual carrot slice into a pumpkin shape!)

4)  Come Follow Me reading yielded this hopeful gem...

Coming soon:
Nov 10th - Scott will be 15!
We are planning a trip to visit Robison’s in Mississippi.
Our Thanksgiving plans provide us an excuse for a road trip to the Northwest.

Please stay in touch and tell us what is happening in your world.

We love you forever!

Week 2 - November 10th,  2019
Howdy-Ho Neighbors,

This will be quick and painless...

1) Lane & I were invited to have a sleepover with the Centerville Howell kids. It was great fun!  We were impressed and entertained.

2)  Thursday we met Claire Elizabeth  Bell. She was born Wednesday November 6th, 9:59 pm weighing in at a healthy 8 lbs 6 oz. KC is recovering nicely. X & baby are doing well too.  ;o}

3) Friday’s visit to the hospital wasn’t nearly as fun as the one on Thursday...
We spent 5 hours in the ER running lab work and multiple tests to see if Lane had his head on straight.  It was discovered that he’d had a minor stroke w/o any permanent damage.

4) He’s doing much better. Yesterday morning we flew to Mississippi to visit the Robison’s. Here are pics from day 1...

5)  Life is interesting and keeps us hopping (and hoping). What is your pace?  How are you keeping it all together?  I’m taking some awesome medication.

This week:
10th - Scott is 15 TODAY!!!
14th - Matthew will turn 17. Yea!
16th - we fly home to South Jordan
Did we forget anything?

Week 3 - November 17th,  2019
Hey kiddos, The day is nearly spent and I’m ready to turn in.  How are you feeling?

1)  Our days in Mississippi went by soooo fast and we arrived back home Friday morning.  Chris and Jami have found a little slice of heaven in Brookhaven.  Small town lifestyle, large home lots, great bakeries, home remodel 98% complete, no heavy traffic, friendly folks, mild winters, good southern food, short commutes, but best of all...2 cute kids.  Thanks for letting us come!

2)  Yesterday we played pickle ball for the first time since we moved in!!!  (Embarrassing to admit that.)

3)  Sunday School scripture reading was Hebrews chapters 7-13.
Hebrews 13:15   I like the sweet phrase “the fruit of [my] lips giving thanks to his name”.

4)  Tom’s family joined us for dinner tonight.  We broke open 6 new bags of flavored candy chips for tapioca.

Coming this week:
19th  -  Lane’s doctor will determine when Lane can have knee surgery.
21st  to December 7th  - tentative dates of our road trip to visit Jerry, Cameron and Britni over Thanksgiving.  Capped off with a stop off in McCall to play Rummikub with Reta.

In December we plan to host small group Shepherd’s dinners.  We’ll let the local (Utah) kids choose from a list of dates.

We love you forever!

OCTOBER 2019

Week 1 -  October 6th, 2019
                                   (skipped)

Week 2 -  October 13th, 2019

Outstanding October greetings of the day,

I skipped emailing last week.  I blame conference.  It was mind numbing, fabulous and future altering.  The First Presidency spoke at the Women’s Session, the YW received a new theme, the terms “Beehive”, "Mia Maid" and "Laurel” have been retired. The prophet announcing 8 new temples, inviting and entreating us to study D&C sections 25, 84 and 107, and leaving a blessing upon us.

1)  Here is the new theme.  Also, photos from Sunday brunch between sessions.  Thanks for inviting us!

2)  We sneaked away to Boston, with some coaxing from Steph and Jerel.  First stop, Basketball Hall of Fame. (Springfield, MA)

3)  Next stop, serious leaf-peeping in Vermont and New Hampshire.  Covered bridges, hiking, The Flower Bridge.

4)  Other stops…
Joseph Smith’s birthplace, Rummikub, cider donuts, mini-golf, chowdah, ice cream, eerie costumed Salem witches making light of the horrifying atrocities of 1692.

Thanks Steph and Jerel for hosting us with airfare and a condo. Memorable times to be sure.  We flew home late last night.  Finally we can truly say "it’s good to be home”.

 Coming this week:
14th ~ We wave goodbye to CarLa (& the scooter)
16th ~ Adelaide Bea will be 6!!!
20th ~ Kim will be Adelaide’s age...plus 40  ;o}

Week 4 -  October 27th, 2019
Hi!

It’s been another great week to be a wife, mother and grandmother. The occasional “check-in” that you may stumble across is one way I keep in touch with the most important folks in my life. Please forgive me if it seems impersonal to you. Every word is honest and heartfelt. It’s what I would say if I were sitting with you face-to-face holding your hand.

The accompanying photos give you a sense of what I’ve been up to these past TWO weeks.

1) we waved goodbye to CarLa. She was driven to New Hampshire by Jim, who renamed her “Toy II”.  She’s arrived safely. 9 days, 2,773 miles.

We hosted Bells for dinner and a tour of our home.  On the 17th I got a call from Callie that she might be in labor - she delivered within the hour. I arrived 30 minutes prior, but 29 minutes ahead of the midwife ;o}

2) Daisy Jo is a beautiful girl and loved by all of her female siblings. I’m sure she’ll grow on Paden.  Good job & congrats Callie & Rayson!

SUPPLEMENTAL CHECK-IN 9.9.2019

Hi Kids,

For those of you who have absolutely nothing else to do on Saturday morning, September 28th, we are offering an exercise program with a bit of a twist…
Join us at Lincoln’s garage from 9:00-11:00 am.  We will be doing deep-knee bends and weight-lifting.
First we pick up boxes and a few heavier items (group therapy),  Then we stack them on a trailer.
Then, 7 minutes away, we reverse the process at Lane & Carolyn’s new home.
Finally, to compensate for any weight loss in the process, we will serve donuts, milk and cider.

Whatever you do…don’t cancel anything important for this event.  And no RSVP’s, please

Love,

Lane & Carolyn

WEEK 2 - SEPTEMBER 15,  2019

A CHECK-IN...OF SORTS

Happy Friday everyone!

Good news and bad news…

Good News first - Carrie has single handedly moved 2/3 of our things out of her garage and into OUR garage.  She’a a champ.  Lincoln assures us that this in no way is any indication that she’s ready for us to move out of their house.  Haha.

Bad News - No donuts and cider Saturday because there won’t be much left to come help us with.  J/K about the donuts and cider.  Come and see the house if you like, but there is no urgency to come spend 2 hours exercising with us as we had hoped.  There will be  a few things to do, much to see and donuts to eat.

We love you!!!

WEEK 3 -  SEPTEMBER 22,  2019
                                (skipped)

WEEK 4 -  SEPTEMBER 30,  2019
Hey all!

We missed taking photos of Carrie dropping off multiple truck loads, nearly singlehandedly.
We missed taking photos of our garage loaded with ‘empty’ boxes and then Isaac, Slater and Maggie smashing them.
We missed taking photos of the family and friends loading Lincoln’s trailer to get our last loads over to our house.
We missed taking photos of Roy doing a precision cut out of my Ikea shelves to fit over my heat register in our office.
We missed taking photos of Greg, Lincoln, Tom and Roy hefting the 85” TV onto it’s mounting bracket over the fireplace mantel.
We missed photos of RayDean, Carlie, Steph and Jerel putting together furniture - tables, lamps, chairs and a 200 piece puzzle that became a desk.  Randi lent a hand where possible and Savannah nibbled on donut holes ;o}
So, without any evidence to proof that we moved, it appears a miracle has occurred to get us situated so quickly and completely.

We thank ALL who came to assist us.  It already feels like home!  Come see us anytime!!!  Our first official guests were Lincoln and Carrie, who joined Lane Saturday evening in watching the Utes beat Washington State.

1)  CarLa is sold and her name has been changed to TOY II.  We don’t even miss her…since she is stored at the Bullock’s until Jim from New Hampshire comes to retrieve her in mid October.

2)  Our cottage is located at 6152 W Poplar View Dr.  South Jordan, UT 84009

3)  Lincoln and Carrie just NOW surprised us by dropping off our front porch glider!!!  (I’m dressed for painting the guest room)

4)  Yesterday we attended our ‘HOME’ ward for the first time!  It was marvelous, welcoming and filled with folks of all ages.  AND it was also the ward’s first week being a ward.  A new bishop, etc…along with the overview of the new Children and Youth program for the world.  Life is good!

5) Sunday afternoon Lincoln invited us over for Carrie’s belated birthday feast.  So much fun!  Thank you.

6)  My mother and David stopped by last evening for a tour and a few housewarming surprises.  What a treat!

7)  Tis the season for candy corn (and extra teeth brushing)!  YUM!

Coming this week:
~ A bit more painting, wallpaper, curtains, hardware attached, etc. etc. etc.
~ October 5th & 6th General Conference
~ What are YOU doing this week to keep life interesting?
~ More family photos for our honor wall??? (We have 6)
