Day 43 ~ Sept 8th

DINOSAUR VALLEY

After visiting the Drumheller Branch we set 

out to find out why this town is known 

throughout Canada as Dinosaur Valley.

It didn't take long.

Just around the corner from the church we found... 

 then this little guy...

and this strange variety... 

 Here's another... 

Then…we discovered the Real Deal! 

Drumheller, Alberta ~ Home of the Royal Tyrrell Museum

…all things dinosaur!  This place is awesome!

Day 44 ~ Sept 9th

SASKATCHEWAN

After a night of menacing mosquitos, annoying horseflies, 

and howling coyotes, we awoke to drizzle, gray skies and a 

threatening storm.  So today became a major driving day.

Short stops included McDonalds, 

DQ and this temple (closed on Mondays).

Lastly, close your eyes and spell SASKATCHEWAN.

Day 45 ~ Sept 10th

MANITOBA

…the 4th province out of 10 

(the 3 territories further North will elude 

us on this cross-country road trip).

We spent the sunny day in the beautiful city of Winnipeg.

and touring the Royal "Bakery".

  Where Canada makes dough for over 75 countries…

 If Lane were made of Platinum I couldn't 
afford to bring him home through customs.  

Home sweet home!

Day 46 ~ Sept 11th

BACK IN THE USA

 Out of curiosity we drove briefly into Minnesota today.  

We wanted to examine the Northwest Angle or 

the town of Angle Inlet (lower right side of map).

The people of Angle Inlet are so nice.

…until we heard thunder. 

After the rainstorm and dirt roads our Honda has a new exterior design.  

We drove to Ontario Province, the sun came out, 

we found a wet campsite, managed to start a fire, 

and finished the day with s'mores.  

A perfect ending to ANY camping day.

Justin became a deacon on September 8th!!!  Happy 12th Birthday!

RayDean celebrated her birthday on the 9th.  Yippee!

Day 48 ~ Sept 13th

LAKE SUPERIOR

Breakfast to go...

A short hike to Aguasabon Falls & Gorge

"When Harry met Winnie" in 1914 it was here, 

White River, Ontario.  Named after Winnipeg, Manitoba, 

Canada…hometown of man who bought the bear.  

Harry, a soldier, paid a trapper $20 for the small black bear.  

Winnie eventually went to London, where he was spoon-fed 

honey as a treat, by a boy named Christopher Robin.  

Christopher's father was the author of the Winnie the Pooh books.

A BIG lake.  A beautiful, long travel day.

Tonight we camp indoors…in Michigan!  

This evening we crossed borders, gave up our green pepper, 

and look forward to crossing the Mackinac bridge tomorrow.  

Then back into Canada and off to Ottawa to see the major 

Canadian Mint -- more dough!

Day 49 ~ Sept 14th

St Ignace, MI

Our charming room circa 1940's ~ except we have a crockpot and computers.

(Yes, that's Lane crocheting, a little gift for Momma Creek.)

The marvelous Mackinac Bridge is the 5 mile dividing line between Lakes Michigan and Huron.

St Ignace is famous for it's yearly Big Rig Truck Show 

"Parade of Lights".  Not to be missed!
